Sydney’s most fashionable joined Face of Myer Jennifer Hawkins and Myer Ambassadors Kris Smith, Rachael Finch and Kate Peck at Potts Point hotspot The Butler on Wednesday to celebrate the launch of the Autumn Racing Season.

The event was an exciting celebration of racewear fashion styled by the talented Thelma McQuillan, who put together 13 stunning looks from our Autumn Winter 2015 collection. Keeping to the seventies theme we’re seeing a lot of this season, racewear styling for autumn sees rich colours and boho prints worn back with felt hats, the must have style for the Autumn Races. Neutral tones and shades of grey were seen in a range of feminine looks, while the traditional black and white was given a bold treatment in striped prints and strong, structured silhouettes. With slightly cooler weather expected, we’re tipping that this race season we’ll be seeing more texture play and interesting fabrics in leather and woollen dresses, which are best worn back with strappy pumps.

Our team of ambassadors were dressed to impress at the launch in winning looks inspiring us to play with colour, print and embellishment this racing season. Face of Myer Jennifer Hawkins wowed in a black and gold embellished sass & bide dress and a metallic headpiece by Kerrie Stanley, while Myer Ambassador Kris Smith put a fresh spin on traditional suiting by donning a paisley blazer and accessorising with a polka-dot pocket square. Rachael Finch and Kate Peck both sported gorgeous colour-blocked looks by Yeojin Bae and Alex Perry respectively.
Guests including Myer designers Johnny Schembri of by johnny, Brent Wilson, Matt Jensen from MJ Bale and Anthony Cuthbertson of sass & bide and Myer milliners Nerida Winter and Ann Shoebridge enjoyed a delicious lunch of roast snapper and lamb, followed by a delectable chocolate and coconut terrine with raspberry sorbet thanks to the team at The Butler (if you haven’t been there, add it to your list!).

Myer continues to support racing across Australia as the official fashion partner of the Australian Turf Club, and will once again host its renowned Myer Fashions on the Field competition at Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens and the Championships Day 1 and Day 2 at Royal Randwick, with entrants vying for a total prize pool of over $100K over the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival! If you’ve never entered Myer Fashions on the Field before, why make this year the year you do?!
